MAKE 'N TAKE WEEKEND

It's that time of the month again - Make 'n Take, that is.  I know many of you will be spending some time this weekend at Heirloom's Rubber Stamp & Paper Arts Festival in West Springfield.  Hopefully you'll be able to stop in here either before or after your adventure to stamp with us.  Below are the four cards we will be doing on Saturday.  Some of them can be used for Father's Day (or not), and the cute card with the sparkly red shoes has a verse on the inside that says:

There's NO PLACE LIKE HOME...

New Schedule

Below is our June schedule. We will post more information and samples as they become available.

One of the highlights of course is our guest artist, Els van de Burgt on June 5.

 Another date for you to keep open is Sunday, June 30.  June marks the 8th anniversary of our store opening, and to celebrate, we are having an Open House and Auction from 1 to 4 pm.  When you arrive, you will receive "Nest Bucks", our version of Monopoly money, based on the dollar amount of your purchases since January 1.  You can use that money to bid on packets of merchandise we have put together.  We have done this auction a couple of times and everyone has had a great time.  Reservations are not required.  Just come and join us Sunday afternoon for a good time.

 

More Samples and New Merchandise

We have lots of news for you today, including some samples from the upcoming Inky Antics class, some new merchandise you won't want to miss, and information on the Elizabeth Craft Designs class.

May 30 is our Inky Antics class and we will be doing these three summer themed cards.  Join us for a picnic card, a porch swing image, and a cute butterfly card.  The class is being held at 10:30 am and 6:30 pm, and the cost is only $15.

If you haven't signed up for the Elizabeth Craft Designs class with guest artist Els van de Burgt, there's still time.  You can scroll down to the previous post for some sample photos, although the actual cards may vary slightly.  We have now received the actual gorgeous samples from Els and they are on display here at the store. Because we cannot comfortably fit more than about ten people in the store, the class will be held at The First Church of Christ at 689 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury.  That's the large white church on the hill at the intersection of Route 10 and West Street.  The class will be broken into two sessions, the first beginning at 10 am and the second ending about 4 pm, with lunch provided between sessions.  The cost for both sessions and lunch is $75.  You will need to bring your class kit with you containing scissors and adhesive to assemble your cards.  For some of the cards we will be using Copic markers.  Els will be bringing markers with her, but if you have some favorite colors you may want to use, feel free to bring your own. This class should be a lot of fun!

We have been getting new merchandise in almost every day.  We've just received a large selection of papers and chipboard shapes from FabScraps, a South African company.

 This is just one of the eight designs in the "Milkshake" collection.  It features some great images from the 50's.



There are eight really cute papers from the "Baby Bears" collection, but a photo just didn't do them justice.  You have to see them to believe them.







We also have eight designs featuring herons, flamingos and other birds from the "Enchanted Garden" collection.

There are chipboard shapes from all three collections, some with papers to match.  There's even a set of papers shaped to fold into a little diaper (see below) that would make a really cute baby shower invitation.

Elizabeth Craft Samples

We have received photos of the cards we will be making with Els van de Burgt from Elizabeth Craft Designs, so we would like to share them with you.

 These three cards will be done in one of the two sessions on June 5th.  They will involve the use of glitter, shimmer sheets, peel offs, and copic markers.









In the other of the two sessions we will be making the three cards below.  They are made using Elizabeth Craft dies, shimmer sheets, and peel offs.

Here also are picture of the cards we will be making in the "Cards in Motion" class.  This first card is called a Flip Card and is made using a special die from Sizzix.

We will also be making a beautiful summer card with a lighthouse and a rolling sailboat.  This technique can be adapted for other occasions and holidays.

The third card in the "Cards in Motion" class is a "Waterfall Card."  The three images cascade into one another giving the illusion of movement. If you click on the video below, hopefully you will see the card in action.

Elizabeth Craft Designs Class Update

Meet Els van de Burgt who will be our guest instructor on Wednesday, June 5.  We do not have samples yet to share with you because she will be using ALL NEW products in her classes and was waiting for their arrival in order to make our samples.

I am posting a copy of the class descriptions she has sent us. One of the sessions will be in the morning, followed by a break for a yummy lunch which we will provide, and then the second session will follow lunch.  We will start at 10 am and end about 4 pm.  The cost for the day will be $75.  You can call the store and reserve your spot now.  Credit cards can be accepted over the phone.

"DIE"NOMITE DESIGNS

Join Elizabeth Craft Designs owner, Els van de Burgt for a fun and colorful class featuring the best and NEWEST that Elizabeth Craft Designs has to offer.  Using her silk microfine glitters, Shimmer Sheetz, and an assortment of her newest dies, you will learn how all of her products can work together as you create three "Die"nomite Cards that leave you wanting to go home and make more!

GLITTERY, SHIMMERY, PEEL OFF MASTERPIECES

Join Els as she teaches you how to take her newest designs of Peel Off Stickers and combine them with her silk microfine glitters and Shimmer Sheet to make three glittery, shimmery, dazzling card masterpieces.  Learn how easy it is to color on the silk microfine glitter with your Copic Markers to create depth and shading on your projects.  Please feel free to bring your favorite Copic markers, but there will be plenty available to use in class.

Class Project Preview

We've been hard at work making samples for the rest of our May classes.  Below are the Great Impressions cards, but any day now I should be able to post the Motion Cards from the May 21st class.  There are just so many to choose from that it's hard to narrow it down.

Great Impressions - The class is Tuesday, May 7 at 10:30 and 6:30.  You will make these three cards.  Cost is $15.
