Glitter Cards

Our next glitter class is on Thursday, July 11, and we will be using glitter but also featuring some other Elizabeth Craft materials like shimmer sheets, embossing folders, dies, and self-stick velvet sheets.  We will also be using some of our new silk papers.  The classes are at 10:30 am and 6:30 pm, and the cost is $15.  The two classes are filling up quickly, so if you're interested please call and reserve a spot as soon as possible.  Remember, if you pay before the day of the class, you receive a 10% discount on any materials bought the day of the class.

On our last post, I gave the date of the Open House and Auction as July 30.  It should really be June 30.  Sorry for the confusion.  I can't even blame it on the computer.  It was strictly user error.

Our stencil class next month is on Saturday, July 15.   We will be making three designs featuring a gorgeous peacock. Two of the images will incorporate Pearlex Powders - one heated, one not.  The third image is done in copper metallic embossing paste on blue cardstock.  Because of the larger size of the stencil, we will be assembling the designs onto the larger A7 cards.  The class is at 10:30 am and the cost is $20, which includes the stencil.  Call now to sign up.

Don't forget our auction!

Remember our Anniversary Open House and Auction on Sunday, July 30, from 1:00 to 4:00.  We aren't usually open on Sundays, but we're having a special event in appreciation of you, our customers, to whom we owe the past eight wonderful years.  Everyone will receive some "Nest Bucks" which can be used to bid on items we'll be auctioning off.  All of the items are new and have been donated by various vendors.

Now the news you've all been waiting for, the new schedule.

July 11 -   The Glitter Class returns!  After our visit from Els of Elizabeth Craft Designs, we have lots of new
                 ideas for glitter, shimmer sheets, peel-offs, embossing folders, and their endless combinations.

July 20 -   Stencil Class.  This month's cards feature a beautiful peacock done three different ways.  You
                won't want to miss this one.

July 16 -  Christmas Card Class.  It's that time of year again.  Time to start making Christmas cards.  In this
  or          class you'll make 10 cards of the same design.  If you happen to attend this class all five months,
July 19     you'll end up with 50 cards of 5 designs.  This month's card is an elegant bird and pine bough
               design with subtle shimmery accents.

July 25 -  Stacy Rich from Stacy Stamps will be here to do a workshop.  Stacy hasn't been here for a couple
               of years, but she is a lot of fun and has some beautiful designs.  She will be teaching a "One-of-
               a-Kind Stuff-It Box" which is a small box which you will cover, assemble, and decorate.  She will
               also be making a set of four cards with envelopes in a handy gift folder using her shadow stamps.
               As soon as we have the samples, we will be posting more details and photos of the actual projects.

Here are the pictures you've all been waiting for.  Our artist-in-residence has finished the two pop-up cards for the class on June 20th, and they're really cute.



This is the outside of the two cards where you'll be using dies from Elizabeth Craft along with a number of other products.

This is the inside of the two cards.  You'll be using Sizzix dies to create the pop-up effect and decorating your cards using a number of clever techniques.  The class is being held at 10:30 and again at 6:30 on Thursday, June 20th.  The cost is $15. Call now to sign up!!

Class Samples

We had a great class on Wednesday with Els from Elizabeth Crafts.  She had everyone working with glitter, shimmer sheets, Copic markers, and die cuts to create several BEAUTIFUL cards.  We have lots of her materials for sale, including many colors of glitter, 14 colors of shimmer sheets, 8 1/2" x 11" velvet sticky sheets in 5 colors, many, many peel offs, and 14 Elizabeth Craft Designs dies.

On Saturday, June 15th, we will have our monthly Dreamweaver stencil class.  This month we are featuring the lighthouse stencil and using it with three different techniques.

This calendar book, by Graphic 45, is just gorgeous!  There is a pocketed page for each month and there are lots of options for embellishment.  There is a tag in each pocket and one suggestion is to list all the cards you need to make for that month on the tag .  When you have made each card, you can store it in the pocket until it's time to send it.  The class is on Tuesday, June 25th at 10:30 or at 6:30.  Both classes are almost full, so if you are interested, please call soon to sign up.  You will need to purchase the book of papers ($20.50) and there is an additional $10 fee for the class.  There is a page of embellishments for each month in the book of papers, and if you wish to purchase additional embellishments, there is a page of stickers and two different pages of chipboard tags.  For those of you who are signed up to take the class, please bring scissors, a paper cutter or trimmer and a bone folder if you have them, and either red line tape or miracle tape to hold everything together.  Note: Tape runners will not adhere well enough to hold the book together but may be used to attach embellishments.

A Reminder

Just a reminder for those of you who will be attending the Elizabeth Craft Designs class tomorrow:

• The class begins at 10 am.  
• The class is being held at First Church of Christ, 689 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury (the white church on the hill at the intersection of Rt. 10 and Rt. 167.)
• Please bring your class kit with you.  You will definitely need scissors and whatever adhesive (tape, tape runner, glue stick) you usually use to assemble your cards.
• We will be using Copic Markers to color some of the cards.  There will be markers available for use, but if you have your favorite colors and would prefer to use them, you may want to bring them along. Make sure your Copics are marked so they don't get lost.
• We will have many Elizabeth Craft items as well as some necessary staples (tape, scissors) available for sale at the church.  We would prefer to have you pay with cash or checks instead of a credit card.
