PHOTOS, PHOTOS, PHOTOS

Happy Holidays from the Easter Yorkie and the Passover Schnauzer.

We've got some new photos of the cards we'll be making in upcoming classes.  On Tuesday April 7th, we will be making cards using a new technique, courtesy of Magenta, with plastic stencils and watercolor paper. I posted pictures previously of the stenciled images, but I wanted you to see the finished cards.

Our Graphic 45 Precious Memories Cards class will be on Tuesday April 21st.  Below is a picture of the four cards we will be making in that class.  Please bring your regular class kit, including a paper cutter and a good pair of scissors for fussy cutting.

Saturday April 25th brings the Advanced Coloring with Copics class.   We will be practicing a number of techniques and turning one of your finished pictures into a card.  For this class, don't forget to bring your Copic markers with you.

This Saturday, (for those of us who aren't in Tampa, Florida enjoying the Women's NCAA Final Four) will be our monthly Make 'N Take.  Below are the four cards we'll be making then.

If any of you saw Tim Holtz's post on Facebook where he made marbelized eggs from white plastic eggs, we've tried it and were very pleased with the results.  Those of you in tomorrow's alcohol ink class may get a chance to try this.

Until next time, I'll post one more picture of the employees of the month.  You'd be surprised how many people come to the store just to see them, not us.

Schedule for April

"Seriously?  What did I do?"

Thanks to everyone who brought in items to sell and to all of you who came to shop for great bargains, we had a VERY successful tag sale. Many of you very generously gave your leftover items to be donated to charity.  We have several organizations that are thrilled to receive these donations, but due to the large number of you who were so generous, we could use a couple more.  So, if you know an art program, a card ministry, or some other organization that is in need of supplies, please let us know.

Below is the schedule for April. Hopefully you'll find some classes to interest you.  Just call the store to register (860-658-9023). Remember that if you pay for a class in advance, you receive a 10% discount on any purchases the day of the class.  You may pay over the phone by credit card, mail a check, or drop in the store to pay.

April 7 - Watercolor Stencils Magenta Style:  Try a new stencil technique that involves applying color with dye inks and then using a wet stencil to integrate a pattern into your design.  It's easy to do and gives you a lovely background! The photo below shows a preview of what can be done with the stencils.  We will make them into cards.

April 13 - Graphic 45: There are still just a couple of available seats for this fantastic opportunity to work directly with the staff of this very popular company. If you are interested, call ASAP.

April 21 - Precious Memories Cards: Join Sharon as she once again makes a number of beautiful cards from just a couple of sheets of paper.  She will be using one of Graphic 45's newest lines, and the cards will be lovely as always. Below is just one of the cards you'll be making. It's a throwback to a style we used a few years ago but with a new twist.

April 23- Stencil Class: This month we're using a lovely Lily-of-the-Valley stencil with three different techniques. The photos below show the two cards and the tag we'll be making.

April 25 - Advanced Copic Markers: If you've already taken a beginner Copic class and would like to learn more, this is the class for you.  Bring your own markers and practice some new techniques as you color a variety of designs.

April 28 - Bendie Cards: Try a new variety of card. The "bendie" shape gives the illusion of depth and allows you to incorporate a number of different papers, stamps, and die cuts into your design.  We will be using the Graphic 45 "Home Sweet Home" papers.

News From the Nest

"Kelly, who's going to buy all these tags?  Why are we selling them?"

"I don't know Jazzy, but nobody's getting these.  Don't even think about it."

I don't know about you, but we're really looking forward to Saturday's tag sale.  Some of our customers have dropped off their items today and we already have quite an assortment of stamps, paper, punches, stickers, scrapbooks, embellishments, ribbons, buttons, etc.  There are some very unique items in there too. Come on out and shop.  The prices are VERY reasonable and you could go home with quite a lot for only a few bucks.

Now a word from our spokesdog:
Don't forget - - - -Easter is coming very quickly.  Have you made your Easter cards yet?  We have paper, stamps, and everything else you might need.

Lots of Pictures

Tuesday March 24th is the "Glitter Card" class, and we thought you might like to see what we'll be doing.  In this class you'll make two cards and decorate a clear A-2 card gift box to put them in. You'll be using microfine glitter, peel-offs, dies, and Shimmer Sheetz, and hopefully some of the techniques we use will be new to you.

The featured flower in the "Sculpted Flowers" class on March 26 will be the iris, but since making that flower doesn't really take too long, we've thrown in a bonus flower.  You'll be making a mini Easter basket with the Iris attached, and in addition you'll make a card using the dogwood die.

March 31 is the "Alcohol (Ink That Is)" class and we're going to do some beautiful things with alcohol ink.  We'll use different techniques to make two cards and two pillow boxes to hold your favorite Easter treat.  You can adapt these techniques to use with all your favorite stamps.

Great news for those of you just lying around with nothing to do------------

We've gotten in some new papers from KaiserCraft so you can get back to your scrapping and card making.  We have three new lines: Betsy's Couture, On Stage, and Furry Friends.

By the way, thanks for all the great comments about the dog pictures. Jazzy and Kelly have become quite famous now and some days they get more emails than we do. Today, Kelly even got a phone call!  We just can't let it go to their heads.

More Photos

I hope you're all staying warm this winter.  At least if you have to stay inside, you have plenty of time to work on your cards and scrapbooks. If you come in, the girls will show you where to find more supplies.

It's time to post more photos, since we have finished samples for more of our upcoming classes.  Hopefully you'll like some of the following and you can call and sign up for a class or two.

Above is the accordion book both closed (top) and open (bottom).  This book gives you a cleverly folded 6x6 inch booklet in which to put photos or memorabilia. It's fun to make and would make a great keepsake or treasured gift.

In the last blog entry I posted photos of two of the cards for our "Cards ---Just Because" class. Below is the third card you'll be making.  Each of the three features a different way to use your paper and all three techniques can be used with a wide variety of stamps and papers.

Don't forget that Saturday is our monthly Make 'N Take. Drop by anytime between 10 and 4 to make any or all of the four cards pictured below.  The cost is only $2 per card.

If you're in the market for a bargain, make sure you come in to shop on Saturday, March 21st. That's our tag sale day, and so far we have about 25 customers bringing in their gently used stamps, papers, stamp pads, punches, stickers, embellishments, and more.  People price their items to sell and if you're looking for some good deals, you can't afford to miss this.  Come ready to shop!

There are only 5 seats left in the April 13th Graphic 45 class. If you're interested, make sure you call now and reserve your spot. If you have already reserved a seat, please make sure you get your payment in before March 20th. You can send a check, stop in and pay, or call with a credit card.
