How many did you get?  Count again.  This inventory stuff is hard work.

________________________________________________
Tomorrow is a bonus Make 'N Take and our last day before inventory, so we're getting all our ducks in a row.  We'll then be closed until Saturday, January 3rd when we'll reopen with our regular monthly Make 'N Take.  Below is our schedule for January classes.  Take a look and call to register for any you're interested in. Photos of samples for the classes will appear soon.

  • Jan. 10 - Intro to Copic Markers - Whether you already have a couple of Copics and would like to learn how to use them, or you just want to see what all the fuss is about, this class is for you.  Learn what the numbering system means, how to refill the markers, and most importantly, how to become addicted to coloring with them. The cost of the class includes 5 markers. It's like getting the class for free.

  • Jan. 12 - Advanced Copic Class - If you've already taken the intro class, even if you think you've forgotten everything, then this class will help you.  Bring your markers with you and use them in ways you haven't tried before. It's all about technique and you'll learn a few new ones.
  • Jan. 15 - Stencil Class - We'll be using snowflake stencils with a variety of techniques to create some beautiful winter cards.  Whether you're a pro or you've never used stencils before, you'll enjoy this class. The stencil is included in the cost of the class.
  • Jan. 20 - Bleach: It's Not Just for Laundry - Create gorgeous effects in your stamped images by using a little bleach. We'll show you how. If you're good, we might even show you a trick with dryer sheets.

  • Jan. 21 - Double Page Scrapbook Layout - Create a travel-themed layout to show off those pictures you took on vacation.

  • Jan. 22 - Glitter Cards - Glitter is something we can't seem to get enough of.  You'll love what you can do with microfine glitter and other Elizabeth Craft products. It's always fine to add that extra sparkle.
  • Jan. 24 - Book Binding - Make a journal from scratch and bind the pages yourself. It's easy! The photo below shows some journals we have made in past classes. Cover designs may vary.

  • Jan. 27 -Shutter Cards - Learn to make a gatefold shutter card which opens and closes like the lens of a camera to reveal your hidden message. It's easy to do is probably a new style for most of us.

WE WISH YOU A MERRY CHRISTMAS!

____________________________________

Now that we've gotten through our Open House, we can concentrate on December's classes.  The Open House was a lot of fun and I think it's fair to say everyone had a great time, especially Sally Emerson, the winner of our $100 gift certificate.

This Saturday, December 6th, we will be having our normal Make 'N Take for December.  The four cards we'll be doing are below.

Back by popular demand, Tuesday December 9th is our Tag Class.  You will make 10 gift tags using some embellishments with Graphic 45 tags and papers.  These are sure to be a hit on all your packages this year.

We also have photos from the December 11th Glitter class. The projects are gorgeous, and even Pat (who is not a fan of glitter) would be excited to sign up for this class.

On Saturday, December 13, we'll be holding a Photo Folio class featuring our "Bucket List" Folio.  This would make a great Christmas present for someone who wants to keep track of those "must do" items on his or her life list.  Plan on about 4 hours for this class, but no experience is necessary. You will need 1/4" and 1/2" red line tape. All papers will be pre-cut and all other materials will be provided. If you have a bone folder, a Martha Stewart Score Board, a ruler, a pencil, or scissors, please bring them with you.  If you don't, we have some you can share.

December Schedule

It's that time of year again! The time when the holidays seem to run together and when we know we'd be ready for Christmas if only it came in February.

Do you need a last-minute gift?  Would you like a special holiday card?  Could you use some hand-made gift tags?
If so, you might be interested in one of our December classes. Below is the schedule.

  • Dec. 4 - The Stockings are Hung - You will be using a plastic stencil and some Petaloo flowers to embellish a canvas stocking in time for Christmas.  The results are stunning.

  • Dec. 9 - Tag Class - Make 10 gift tags for your holiday gift-giving using a variety of techniques.  Your friends and family won't want to throw these tags away!
  • Dec. 11 - Glitter Class - 'Tis the season to twinkle.  For those of you who've been begging for a glitter class, this is it!  Make three all-occasion cards using glitter and glitter techniques.
  • Dec. 13 - "Bucket List" Photo Folio - Make this foto folio to keep track of your Bucket List and to document with pictures those items you've checked off. You'll make the entire folio, from chipboard to finished product, in about 4 hours, and you'll have a place to record those top items on your "must see and do" list.
  • Dec. 27 - Bonus Make 'N Take - We're throwing in an extra Make 'N Take for those of you looking for a post-holiday creative outlet. Bring along those out-of-town guests and join us as we supply the ingredients to make 4 cards.  Make as many as you'd like for only $2 a card. Drop in anytime between 10 and 4.

I Hate Inventory Sale - Stop in between Dec. 18th and 27th for our annual sale. There will be bargains that are sure to please, all in an effort to reduce our inventory before we have to count everything.

Wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving from everyone at the Stamp & Scrap Nest.
                                                        Susan, Sharon, Sydnie,
                                                        Carol, Pat, Jazzy, and

My Bad!

Somehow, through all the excitement of posting pictures yesterday, I forgot to post a new and improved photo of the candle ring.  So, if you can stand getting a new posting two days in a row, here is the project for the candle ring class.

We have samples for the Plastic Stencil class on November 20.  We will be using inks and a different type of stencil paste on various surfaces to create three projects which are pictured below. Since the morning class is almost full and we have a limited number of stencils, there will not be an evening class.

This is the project I made in my last class.  I hope you have as much fun in your class.

Samples, samples, samples

We're ready to start our Christmas shopping.  How about you?  Have you made your cards yet?  We're having a little problem with the card making (that thumb thing again), but we're looking to buy our holiday treats.

This Saturday is our "The Stockings are Hung" class. In this class you'll be making a gorgeous canvas stocking with silver and gold stenciled detail and floral embellishments from Petaloo.  The stocking is not hard to make and you'll have a keepsake that you can use for years. The class is at 10:30 am and costs only $20 for all supplies.  To register for the class, call the store (860-658-9023).

On Tuesday, November 18th, we will be holding a "Poinsetta Candle Ring" class.  I posted a photo on an earlier blog, but it turns out that Susan wasn't finished with it yet and now it looks even better.  We will be using Sizzix dies from Susan's Garden and Ranger to make red and white poinsettias and green foliage which will be attached to a ring.  All you need to add is your own candle and you have a great centerpiece for your holiday table.  You can sign up for the class at either 10:30 am or 6:30 pm.  All supplies will be provided for a fee of $20. Call the store (860-658-9023) to register.  Don't forget that if you pay for a class ahead of time, you will receive a 10% discount on anything you purchase on the day of the class.

We have been receiving all sorts of new papers and other merchandise lately.  Drop by to see the new Altitude collection from BoBunny, the Winterland line from Moxxie, and the Warm & Cozy collection from Carta Bella. All three of these paper lines feature winter themes and have been flying out of here. Stop and get yours before they're gone.

Don't forget our holiday open house on Sunday, November 23. Fun, games, food, and goodie bags for the first 25 people. It all happens at 1:30! Be there or be square!
