Change in Schedule!!

Kelly has been busy getting all the die cuts ready for the next Christmas card class. Her little paws are getting tired!








We have a change in schedule to announce regarding the October 11 class.  Due to circumstances beyond our control, Susan Tierney Cockburn will not be coming to teach on that day. We know several of you have already signed up and we're sorry for the inconvenience. 

    

Since we now have an open Saturday on October 11, we will be offering a class in making a "Photo Folio."  Using book board and the Norland series of papers from Farmhouse, we will construct a small Christmas-themed book to hold your photos.

For this class, you will need 1/2" and 1/4" red line tape, a paper cutter that will cut 12" paper (Don't worry, we'll have quite a bit already cut for you.), scissors, a bone folder, and a Martha Stewart Score Board if you have one.  If you don't have one, you may borrow one for the few scores you'll have to make. For those of you who have seen the Plain Jane Books, this is the same concept but is much less labor intensive since it has no pages and only has a 3/4" spine. Because of the popularity of this class, we will be offering two class times - 10:00 am sharp, and 2:30 pm. Please allow 4 hours. The cost will be $25.

We've gotten quite a few new papers in this week and there are some really exciting designs.  We have some new Christmas papers from Doodlebug.

We also have a new travel line from BoBunny.

OCTOBER CALENDAR

We've worked long and hard (It's difficult to write without those thumbs.), so we'd like to present the schedule for October.  We hope you'll come and take some classes with us.

• October 7th - TAG BOX WITH COOKIES - Make this cute Halloween box out of Graphic 45 tags, then decorate it and fill it with cookies you've stamped to match. You'll learn how to stamp on cookies with edible ink.

• October 14th - 16th - CHRISTMAS CARD CLASS - Combine die cuts with stamping to make 10 of these beautiful cards to add to your Christmas card stash.  

• October 18th - STAMPSCAPES - Although the cards aren't quite designed yet, we will be making outdoor scenes using stamps that are designed to work together seamlessly.  You'll create a couple of designs and then you'll have an opportunity to create your own scenes using our collection of stamps.

• October 23 - COPIC TECHNIQUES WITH FALL COLORS - Bring your fall-colored Copics and learn to color pumpkins, leaves, and autumn scenery.  You'll have lots of opportunities to practice your coloring techniques with a variety of stamps.

• October 25 - STENCIL CLASS - We'll be using an elk stencil to create three beautiful cards using a variety of stenciling techniques.  The cards haven't been born yet, but we know you won't be disappointed.

• October 28 - HOLLY BERRY HOUSE CHRISTMAS BOX - You'll learn to use one stamp to create a 5-sided box which you will emboss and color to create this gorgeous holiday gift box or decoration.

• October 11 - SUSAN'S GARDEN - Susan Tierney Cockburn, a designer with Sizzix and creator of the Susan's Garden line of dies, will be joining us to teach three classes. This is her first time at the store and we'd like to give her a big welcome.  We have all taken classes from her and have enjoyed them immensely.  Her creations look so real, you'll think you're using natural materials. She will be doing the following classes:
• 10am - 12n  - Christmas Candle Wreath - You will make a beautiful holiday candle wreath using Susan's new poinsettia and holly dies along with her pinecone die. The cost is $40 and includes all supplies and a candle.
• 1pm - 3pm - Flower Pendant - You will be making a mini flower, placing it on a necklace base, and covering it with ice resin to give it a porcelain-like finish. All materials are supplied and the cost is $30.
• 4pm - 6pm - Fall Candle Wreath -  This candle wreath uses the fall leaf dies and will make a beautiful autumn accent piece.  The cost of $40 includes all supplies plus the candle.

Susan is sending samples and we will post photos of them as soon as we receive them. Each class is limited to 10 students.  You can take one, two, or all three classes but we expect they will fill quickly, so call the store to make your reservations. If you have any flower-making tools (various sizes of styluses, tweezers, loops, etc.), please bring them with you. 

Make 'N Take

Don't forget Make 'N Take on Saturday, September 6th.  Drop in anytime between 10 and 4 and make as many of the following cards as you'd like.  The cost is just $2 per card.

NEW MERCHANDISE!

We've been receiving new items almost daily, and we've just gotten one of the cutest paper lines we've seen in a while. It's called "Teddy Bears' Picnic" and it can be used for cards, scrapbooks and other projects.  

September Schedule

Here is our schedule for September.  It looks like we're going to be pretty busy.  We hope you can find some time to join us.

• Thursday, 9/4: Join us as Nathalie Metivier from Magenta Style shows us how to make three absolutely beautiful cards using both plastic stencils and rubber stamps.

                                                      

• Friday, September 5:  We'll be starting our annual September Sidewalk Sale and will have lots of great deals available.  We have some discontinued items, some one-of-a-kind bargains, and fantastic savings on "experienced" stamps.  Stop in and add to your stash without spending a bundle.

• Plain Jane - An Eerie Tale : Wednesdays 9/10, 9/24 or Saturdays 8/23, 9/13, 9/27. Jane Jones will be teaching this haunting mini album using the Hidden Hinge system. She has included lots of flaps, pockets, and little hidden spaces.  There are still a few openings.  Scroll back through earlier blogs for photos, a list of supplies to bring, and more information.  

• Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday - September 16, 17, 18: Christmas Card Class. Make 10 adorable cards with this whimsical diecut snowman.  There are five classes available, so one should fit into your schedule.  Wednesday class is 6:30 only.

• Tuesday, September 23: We had so much interest in last month's stencil class that we couldn't fit everyone in.  We've decided to offer the same class again this month.  We'll be using a hot air balloon stencil to make (1) a hot air balloon (imagine that),  (2) a copper vase on black, and (3) a black vase on copper.  A very clever use of the stencil!

We have a fabulous guest artist coming! Susan Tierney Cockburn, a designer for Sizzix and the creator of the Susan's Garden line of dies, will be here on Saturday October 11th to offer two or three different classes using her dies in a variety of ways.  We will have more details soon concerning times, cost, and class content.  Plan now to spend at least part of the day with Susan.

 There's been so much to share with you this week that this is my third post.  Hopefully you've seen this month's schedule of classes, you've seen photos of some of our new merchandise, and you know what tomorrow's Make 'N Take cards will look like.  Now I'd like to tell you about an opportunity you won't want to miss.  Nathalie Metivier is coming back again to do another class!!  She will be here on Thursday, September 4th to do a class at 10:30 am and again at 6:30 pm.  This time she will be making three cards using a combination of plastic stencils and stamps.  The cards are gorgeous and I'm sure you won't want to miss this.  The cost is $40 and you can either call or stop by the store to sign up.

Make 'N Take

We just got a new shipment of summer dies from Impression  Obsession, and we're really excited.  There are lots of beachy, nautical type dies and they're really cute.  They just came in yesterday and we've sold quite a few already.
